Disturbance in the Arabian Sea Moving Towards Oman
Oct 31, 2011 6:12 AM
As of Monday morning, EDT, a cluster of showers and thunderstorms was centered near 14.7 degrees north, 58.9 degrees east, or about 270 miles southeast of Oman. Satellite imagery continues to show a poorly defined system with a very weak low-level circulation. This feature is not expected to develop over the next 24 hours, but the potential exists for it to become a tropical depression or weak tropical cyclone over the next few days as it remains just offshore near the coast of southern Oman. With low to moderate vertical wind shear and favorable sea surface temperatures, this system will continue to be monitored closely for further tropical development. Regardless of whether or not development occurs, periods of rain and a few embedded thunderstorms can be expected over the next few days in southern and eastern Oman.
